Not everyone needs advice. I know….

I love talking to people who love to take charge.

What I mean, is those who’ve decided they want to take steps, and they want to do it by themselves.

Still, it doesn’t stop people from wanting to bounce a few ideas off someone who knows stuff.

And that’s fine, I love talking about this stuff, so it’s not work for me.

I call these kind of people validators.

It’s not that they don’t want advice. It’s more they’ve got a plan, and just maybe want some info or some very specific guidance.

Do they want “holistic” advice? Are they in the market for some “peace of mind”? Do they want to get clear on their “life objectives”?

Maybe not.

Maybe one day, but right now they just need a little help.

Or, sometimes they just don’t know what they want or how to works it out.

When I’m having these conversations, I often share with them something I call the Validation Framework.

It’s a simplified version of how I, as a professional adviser, do the same for my clients who don’t want to have to worry about this stuff.

As you’ve downloaded my guide, I’m gonna be presumptuous and assume you might be a validator.

Apologies if that’s wrong, this’ll probably be useful regardless.

Here’s how it works…

It’s short, and it’ll save you weeks (maybe months?) of wasted time.

Firstly we help people get crystal clear on what RESULTS they are looking for.  Some people have no idea, some have a little idea, and some know exactly the RESULTS their after.  Everyone is at different stages.

It could even be one of the below:-

·   I want my mortgage paid off by X date!

·   I want to have this lifestyle!

·   I want to go on these types of holidays!

·   I want to be in a position to give my children this X type of support!

·   I want to be in a position by X date where work is optional! Financially independent!

·   I want this type of lifestyle when I finish work!

·   I want to retire by this date!

·   I have a bucket list experience I want to do by X date!

Once you are clear on the RESULTS you’re looking for, and everyone is different, you have a starting point on how to validate whether what you are doing is going to get you there.

The biggest challenge for most is quantifying these amounts.

The next step is assessing your current REALITY.  Where are you now in relation to achieving those goals or aspirations.  Are you close, near or a long way, away.

In the majority people, we talk with have an idea what they want or at least a vague idea but the missing piece is what they need to be doing to get what they want.  The amount of capital that is going to fund their goals and aspirations.

The last step is looking at the ROADBLOCKS that are getting in the way of you achieving those results.  What is it that is stopping you from achieving those results right now?

It could be anything from:

· Not having the time

· Don’t have the money

· Have not saved enough

· Not sure what you need

· Focus is on the wrong things

Or you could be just relying on hope, she’ll be right.  Out of thin air, it will just happen!

The next step is crucial if not the most important, knowing what ROADBLOCKS are preventing you from achieving these results.

There is a lot more to it than that. However, this is the basic framework we use with client’s to get crystal clear on what they are trying to achieve by breaking it down into simple steps and working through what can be done to move them closer to results they are looking for.

If you’re a validator, you can follow the steps above and get the same outcome.
